Ansaldo Nucleare, ENEA, RATEN and SCK CEN met in Mol, Belgium, from December 15 to 17 for the first Consortium gate review
Simple cycle
Simple Cycle gas turbine power plants play a decisive role in supporting the stability of the electricity grid, as they can be started up quickly to respond to fast variations in demand. Their ramp-up time is much faster than Combined Cycles, which makes them ideal as peak power plants.
While Simple Cycle power plants were once preferred for the lowest investment required, they are now regaining importance as emergency systems able to compensate for the intermittence of renewable energies.
The need for maximum operational flexibility can be satisfied by Ansaldo Energia with Simple Cycle plants powered by its AE94.3A, AE94.2 and AE64.3A Heavy-Duty Gas Turbines.
