New nuclear builds

Based on sixty years of experience on different types of reactors, Ansaldo Nucleare provides systems, components and services for the NSSS (Nuclear Steam Supply System) and BOP (Balance of Plant) of several nuclear power plant types including PWR, BWR, CANDU and VVER.
From 2008 to 2012 the Company finalized the design, manufactured, delivered and assisted in the installation of the passive heat exchanger for the removal of decay heat (ASME III component, Division 1, Class 1 and first of its kind) for the Westinghouse AP1000 at Sanmen Unit 1 in China. 
From 2007 to 2016 Ansaldo Nucleare finalized the mechanical design, manufactured, certified and assisted the installation of the containment container and its appliances (according to ASME III, Division 1, Class MC) for the same Sanmen plant.
As part of a Consortium with with Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL), Ansaldo Nucleare contributed to the completion of Unit 1 (in 1996, first CANDU6-type in Europe) and Unit 2 (in 2007) at the Cernavoda nuclear plant in Romania. Ansaldo Nucleare continues to provide design and maintenance services to the two Cernavoda Units, and is preparing to participate to the realization of Unit 3 and 4.
Regarding the ITER fusion project, Ansaldo Nucleare is currently working on the Emergency Electrical Power Distribution contract: a complex multidisciplinary project that involves the design, supply, installation, test and commissioning of the Emergency Electrical Distribution systems - construction of the buildings, housing and supporting systems included.
