Chairman Roberto Adinolfi attended the round table of “Nucleare. È ora. L’Italia è pronta”.

Ansaldo Nucleare Chairman, Roberto Adinolfi, took part yesterday in the event promoted by AIN – Associazione Italiana Nucleare - “Nucleare. È ora. L’Italia è pronta”, an important moment of reflection on the Italian situation and, in particular, on the need for a new energy policy that includes and enhances our country's skills in the nuclear field. Representatives from the academic, political and industrial worlds attended the event.

The meeting was opened by the Chairman of the Associazione Italiana Nucleare, Umberto Minopoli, who launched a request to the country’s political forces: the Italian Parliament should implement three measures, in this legislature, to reopen, in a realistic and concrete way, to nuclear energy in Italy. In particular, Minopoli asked to relaunch a National Energy Policy that will lead the Country out of dependence and achieve energy security; pass a law to support incentives and promote the participation of Italian companies in international development projects and programs in the field of small and medium-sized SMR - Small Modular Reactors; create, as per European obligation, the National Repository for radioactive waste.

The Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, also sent his message, underlining how "by following choices dating back to 35 years ago, our Country has decided to eliminate nuclear production". "I am convinced" - Urso wrote again - "that the new international context creates the right conditions to address a reflection on the issue in a pragmatic and non-ideological way".

The wish of a relaunch of nuclear energy in Italy and new investments in the field was shared by all the speakers, who underlined how this carbon-free energy source is necessary for a planet where the demand for electricity is growing exponentially, both in industrial and domestic consumption and in relation to mobility

In the round table dedicated to the analysis of the industrial sector, to Italian companies that have presented their skills and activities in the sector, Roberto Adinolfi confirmed that Italy is active in the nuclear field and that research and development have never stopped. "Italy, with numerous companies, is the second supplier of components and services of high technological profile in ITER, the largest European fusion project and has demonstrated in fact its ability and competitiveness is highly competitive" - said Adinolfi.  "Nuclear power represents a technological development challenge that must be supported by the country, it needs support to the commitment of companies that have until now alone maintained the technological skills on nuclear power in Italy ,because nuclear power will be able to make an important contribution to solving the current problems in the field of energy is a concrete solution".

“If I had to explain to a young person why investing in nuclear power, I would say that he is investing in the European energy of the future. Italy is ready to compete and Ansaldo is ready to do its part” concluded Adinolfi.
