In recent days, Ansaldo Energia delivered unit 6 of the Irsching power plant in Bavaria to the customer Uniper, Düsseldorf (Germany).
Ansaldo Energia has built, on a "turnkey" basis, an open cycle thermoelectric plant, equipped with an AE94.3A gas turbine and related generator, for a total power of 300 MW, capable of feeding 200,000 homes. With over 4 million equivalent hours of operation accumulated worldwide, the Ansaldo Energia AE94.3A turbine is a product of proven reliability, capable of offering high operational flexibility.
This new unit is part of the German TSO project "besonderes netztechnisches Betriebsmittel - bnBm" (strategic grid reserve project) and is intended to guarantee a secure supply of electricity. The operational flexibility of the turbines produced by Ansaldo Energia has confirmed itself as a winning element in the context of Germany's transition strategy, which requires growing support for grid stability in the face of an increasingly massive use of renewable energy which is intermittent by nature.
It is the first time that Ansaldo Energia delivers a plant in Germany. This will be followed by the commissioning of the second project on which the Group is working: the Marbach open-cycle power plant, created within the same German project for the strategic network reserve.

Ansaldo Energia's turbines, with their operational flexibility combined with their high capacity of hydrogen combustion, are able to respond to the most stringent requirements posed by environmental protection in the German and European markets.
