The Under Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, Hon. Tullio Ferrante, and the Italian Ambassador to Romania, H.E. Alfredo Durante Mangoni, visited yesterday the Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant.
They were welcomed by the CEO of Nuclearelectrica, Cosmin Ghita, and the Head of the Power Plant, Valentin Nae, who presented the plant and its future projects and accompanied the delegation to visit Unit 1 of the Power Plant.
The Client acknowledged and emphasized Ansaldo Nucleare's great commitment to the construction of the first two units: our company and the Italian supply chain will now be involved in the Plant Life Extension (PLEX) project of Unit 1 and the completion of Units 3&4.
In addition, Nuclearelectrica has expressed its attention to developments in the ALFRED (Advanced Lead-cooled Fast Reactor European Demonstrator) project - aimed at developing a Generation IV Lead-cooled Fast Neutron Reactor demonstrator - led by Ansaldo Nucleare, ENEA, RATEN-ICN and other European organizations within the FALCON Consortium.
The Ambassador and Undersecretary also confirmed Italy's commitment to support Romanian nuclear projects.
The meeting was an important opportunity for all participants to strengthen the dialogue between Romania and Italy for an increasing involvement of our country in the Romanian nuclear market.
