Ansaldo Energia confirms its involvement in the reindustrialisation project of the Gioia del Colle industrial site (Apulia, Italy), promoted and coordinated by the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, with the aim of ensuring a solid, long-term industrial future for an area that is strategic to the national production system. In this context, the Group has signed a preliminary agreement with the current owner of the site, aimed at relaunching the plant through high-technology initiatives that are fully aligned with the skills and activities already present within the Group.
The project envisages the creation of a multifunctional industrial complex dedicated to the development of energy technologies. Activities will include the development of solutions for the production and use of carbon-free fuels, logistical support for field service operations for power generation plants, and specialised manufacturing activities in support of the energy transition.
The project includes industrial investments totalling approximately €50 million over three years, to be allocated to site redevelopment, plant upgrades and the start-up of the various activities. Of this amount, around €30 million will be covered directly by Ansaldo Energia, while the remaining portion will be supported through national and local incentive schemes for reindustrialisation processes. The number of highly qualified employees will increase gradually in line with the expansion of the operational scope, reaching 139 units at the completion of the reindustrialisation plan.
The project does not entail any relocation of existing Ansaldo Energia activities, either from the Group’s headquarters in Genoa or from its other industrial sites. The initiative is part of an overall growth strategy, creating new industrial capabilities and generating complementary development opportunities alongside existing activities, without operational or organisational overlap.
“The Gioia del Colle project represents a coherent element of our industrial strategy,” said Fabrizio Fabbri, Chief Executive Officer of Ansaldo Energia. “It is an initiative developed in collaboration with institutions and aimed at creating new production and technological development capabilities in line with the evolution of the energy sector. A project that strengthens the Group and fits into a long-term, sustainable growth path.”
