July - Irsching

In August of 2019 Ansaldo Energia was awarded an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction, or "turnkey") contract for an open cycle thermoelectric power plant with an installed power of 300 MW in Irsching, in southern Bavaria (Germany). The plant – referred to as "Irsching 6" – will be equipped with an AE94.3A gas turbine, with a generator and auxiliary systems, and will be operative by October 2022.

The commission is part of the German TSO's "besonderes netztechnisches Betriebsmittel - bnBm" (network reserve project), for which calls for tender are being held in four parts of southern Germany. The customer is primary German utility company Uniper, awarded a contract in January by network operator TenneT for construction and operation of a standby plant capable of supplying energy instantly in the event of an emergency. The goal is to guarantee a reliable source of electricity as part of the country's overall strategy of meeting its ambitious climate goals without posing any risk to businesses or households. Construction began at the end of July 2021.

As part of the same German network reserve project, in July 2020 Ansaldo Energia was awarded a similar contract by EnBW, Energie Baden-Württemberg AG of Karlsruhe, for engineering, procurement, construction and service of an open-cycle power plant with an installed power of 300 MW in Marbach, Baden-Württemberg (Germany).

The "Marbach 4" plant will also be equipped with an AE94.3° gas turbine, with its generator and auxiliary systems, and is due to begin operation by October 2022.
