An electrolyser by Ansaldo Green Tech, a subsidiary of Ansaldo Energia, will be at the heart of the new green hydrogen production plant in the industrial area of Tito Scalo, in the province of Potenza, Italy. The project, promoted by PRE srl, part of the Grippo Investment group in partnership with GM Engineering, lays the groundwork for the creation of the first Hydrogen Valley in Basilicata, with the aim of fostering decarbonization and the development of a local hydrogen value chain.
The Ansaldo Green Tech electrolyser uses AEM (Anion Exchange Membrane) technology, known for its high efficiency and operational flexibility. Designed and built within the framework of the IPCEI project, funded by the European Union through “NextGenerationEU” program, the unit will be assembled at the new production line currently under development in Genova Campi. With a capacity of 1 MW, the electrolyser will be able to produce over 500 kg of green hydrogen per day, ensuring optimized energy consumption and a high level of purity.
“We are proud to contribute to the realization of the first Hydrogen Valley in Basilicata in partnership with PRE srl,” said Vittorio Olcese, CEO of Ansaldo Green Tech. “This agreement represents further recognition of Ansaldo Green Tech’s AEM technology, focused on efficiency and operational flexibility.”
“With this project we aim to create value for the Basilicata region and generate new job opportunities. Green hydrogen is a resource for the future, and we want to be among the first to invest in this sector,” commented Giuseppe Nunzio Grippo, CEO of PRE srl. “We are pleased to be able to develop this important project together with an Italian company like Ansaldo, which combines a long and solid history with outstanding technological solutions.”
