Ansaldo Energia’s fleet of GT36 gas turbines has recently surpassed 80,000 Equivalent Operating Hours (EOH), marking a significant milestone for the company’s flagship H-class technology. The first firing of the frontrunner GT36 was in November 2022 at Marghera, Italy, followed by additional units in commercial operation across Europe and Asia, steadily establishing a solid operational track record in different market environments.
Designed to support the evolving needs of modern power systems, GT36 combines high efficiency with leading-edge flexibility, enabling fast load changes and low minimum environmental load operation. GT36 is also capable of burning up to 70% hydrogen by volume, supporting customers on their decarbonization journey while ensuring grid stability.
The 80,000 EOH milestone comes shortly after the successful completion of the first B1 inspection on the fleet leader, at Edison’s Marghera Levante power plant. The B1 inspection is the first scheduled maintenance milestone in the turbine lifecycle and provides important validation of component performance and maintenance assumptions under real operating conditions.
Utilities increasingly need solutions that combine power, efficiency and operational flexibility to support grids with a growing share of renewables while ensuring security of supply. Surpassing 80,000 Equivalent Operating Hours and successfully completing the first B1 inspection are important achievements for the GT36 platform.
These achievements provide further evidence of the GT36's maturity and reliability, reinforcing its position as one of the most advanced and flexible gas turbine platforms available today.
