On the sidelines of panel focused on Azerbaijan during the Ambrosetti Forum “Intelligence on the World, Europe, and Italy”, the CEO of the Ansaldo Energia Group, Fabrizio Fabbri, together with the Director of European and International Affairs of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, Pasquale Salzano - met the President of Azerbaijan, H.E. Ilham Aliyev.
The meeting was also attended by Parviz Shahbazov, Minister of Energy, Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy, the Italian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Luca Di Gianfrancesco, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Italy, Rashad Aslanov.
This meeting strengthens, in line with the strategic partnership between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Italy, the existing connection between Ansaldo Energia and Azerenerji, TSO of Azerbaijan. The Italian company is working to renovate the Mingachevir combined cycle power plant, with the supply of four gas turbines that will make it one of the most efficient power plants in the country and capable of ensuring a reduction of over 2 million tons of CO2 emissions per year. In addition to this, Ansaldo Energia commitment to longterm cooperation with Azerenerji includes above all, collaboration on advanced training programs, further support of the electricity production sector and the energy transition of the country in the coming years.
The meeting addressed topics such as the crucial role of Azerbaijan as a supplier of natural gas to Europe, the important and consolidated relations between Azerbaijan and Italy, the strategic vision of Azerbaijan as a key player in international energy cooperation and the strategies of the country related to the energy transition.
In reaffirming its role of support and cooperation in the energy sector, Ansaldo Energia has confirmed its participation, together with Azerenerji, in the United Nations Climate Change Conference - COP29 - which will be held in Baku from 11 to 22 November this year.
