H.E. Lorenzo Fanara, the Italian Ambassador to the UAE, visited last week our premises in Abu Dhabi, with the aim to learn more about our activity in this area, through a deep dialogue with our experts.
Ansaldo Energia Group has been present in the United Arab Emirates for 28 years, with a strengthened presence over the years and still growing, within a network of Italian companies that are consolidating important investments in the country.
At the first order in Mirfa in 1995, which saw the construction of a combined cycle plant with 10 rotating machines produced in the Group’s Genoa headquarters, other important elements have been added that have then led to the realization of a new repair workshop in Abu Dhabi and the completion of the "MESH", Middle East Service Hub, "emergency service" unit for customers in the area: today, our Group has over 300 people in the area employed in complex operational activities, and perform every year the repair of about 30000 hot parts of E - F class gas turbines, of own and third-party technologies.
Also in Abu Dhabi, in May 2022, the Integrated Plant Support Middle East was inaugurated, a new diagnostic center that - in constant contact with its twin center in Genoa - monitors 24/7 the machines under service contract installed worldwide, performing a fundamental activity of predictive diagnostics.
The world of turbomachines is now being joined by the renewable technologies that Ansaldo Green Tech will be able to provide according to the specific needs of the UAE. The Emirates are actually carrying out important investments in low carbon fuels and in the production of green hydrogen: by 2030, the UAE area wants to become a protagonist with 25% of the world market of green hydrogen. Our presence in the area and the extremely positive experience gained by Ansaldo Energia in the field of Service can open the way to the creation of new collaborations also in the field of renewable sources and expand the Group’s work with the construction of electrolysers locally, as soon as this product will be consolidated.
