Repairs

The Repairs activities are dedicated to components that can be recovered to their fullest efficiency with quick, speedy interventions and at much lower costs than the brand new components. The Repairs activities therefore lie among those services capable of optimising the plant maintenance costs and preserving a high productivity. Ansaldo Energia owns an extensive experience in designing, manufacturing and maintaining components of own and diverse technologies, and in its factories it can carry out any necessary repairing and/or improving task, even under emergency circumstances. Ansaldo Energia owns a factory dedicated to all emergency tasks and involves its qualified suppliers for additional reconditioning and repairing specialist activities that may be required. Ansaldo Energia's workshops can carry out a wide spectrum of repairing tasks ranging from the stellite coating of steam turbine valves and blades, to the metal coating of bearings, to the disassembly, control and reassembly of large gas turbine rotors, up to the refurbishment of turbogenerator rotor/stator copper windings. Every year, Ansaldo Energia carries out several tens of Repairs projects.

The repair and refurbishment of gas turbine hot blades require extremely developed technologies and devices. Ansaldo Energia, and its exclusive partner ATLA, have an extensive experience in such activities.
Ansaldo Energia designs the repair specifications, while ATLA is committed to the stripping phase, the non disruptive tests, the repairing and the recoating phases.
The blade repair and refurbishment processes exploit state-of-the-art laser technologies. The finishing, ultimate controls and the proper sequence reassembly of the blades are again under Ansaldo Energia’s direct operational responsibility.
As well as on brand new materials and components, Ansaldo Energia provides a mechanics and operating warranty on the components repaired in its factories or by the suppliers lying under Ansaldo Energia’s responsibility. In the last eight years, Ansaldo Energia has successfully carried out around 40 major GT overhauls, involving the refurbishments refills of over 15.000 blades.
